Why Petplan cat health insurance?

Protection for kittens & adults

Petplan covers viruses like COVID-19 in dogs and reimburses up to $1,000 for online vet visits with no copay or deductible needed. We also cover boarding fees should you be hospitalized for four or more days.

We cover what other providers don't

Some providers limit enrollment for dogs of a certain age, but Petplan protects as early as 6 weeks with no age limit. All breeds are also covered for hereditary or chronic conditions, like hip dysplasia or cancer.

Jessie the Tabby

Even though both cats are indoors only, we got Petplan early on. When Jessie was just 20-months-old, we found her hiding and vomiting. It turns out she had a ruptured bladder and required emergency surgery to live. We called Petplan to make sure the tests and surgery would be covered. It was such a relief to authorize the go-ahead. Once it was all said and done, the cost to save Jessie’s life was $5,075 and of that, Petplan reimbursed us $4,167.

We had pet insurance before, but I thought we could do better. Petplan’s coverage was more inclusive and I liked that we could set our own coverage amount. Petplan also covered more when it came to accidents. You could tell everyone loves their job and that ultimately translated to the customer service we received. When something happens to your pet, you don’t want to worry about the cost. Pet insurance has been such a lifesaver for us with both of our fur babies.

Down Arrow

Pre-existing conditions

Like all pet insurance providers, Petplan cannot cover a medical condition which first occurred or showed clinical sign or symptoms before the effective date of your policy or during the policy waiting period.

Down Arrow

Cosmetic procedures

Elective or specialty procedures, including but not limited to tail docking, dewclaw removal, eyelash removal, ear cropping, spaying or neutering elective gastroplexy and more, unless requested by a veterinarian to treat a covered injury or illness.

Down Arrow

Liability coverage

Any costs associated with an injury to a person or property damage caused by a pet.
